BTB Real Estate Investment Trust: Appointment of a Trustee

MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 20, 2006 -- The trustees of BTB Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX VENTURE: BTB.UN) ("BTB REIT"), announced today the resignation of Mr. Daniel Bouffard as trustee of BTB REIT and the appointment of Mr. Claude Garcia as a non beneficiary trustee of BTB REIT and its subsidiary, TB Subsidiary Trust. This appointment has taken effect on October 16, 2006. As a non beneficiary Trustee, Mr. Garcia may not subscribe for units or receive unit purchase options of BTB REIT. He is considered a totally independent Trustee.
Mr. Garcia had a long career in the public and private sectors. He was President of the Canadian operations of the Standard Life Insurance Company from June 1993 to December 2004.
He currently sits on the board of Cogeco Inc., Cogeco Cable Inc. and Goodfellow Inc. He is Chairman of the Board of the Agence des partenariats public-prive du Quebec (PPP Quebec) and also a director of the Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec.
Mr. Garcia is Chairman of the Board of the Montreal YMCA Foundation and Vice-Chairman of the Board of International Flora Montreal 2006. He is also a director of the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montreal (IRCM), of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance OmbudService and of the Canadian Landmine Foundation.
The Board of trustees of BTB REIT will benefit from Mr. Garcia's vast business and good governance experience.
